About the Youlos
With only one eye set in the middle of their forehead and skin which is scaly, dry, loose fitting and heavily folded about the neck and shoulders, the Youlos are a strange sight for the uninitiated to be sure. These people are of medium build with thick, well groomed, red hair which they allow to grow to just over their shoulder blades. The males have red hair also, but its cut in a Mohegan style which drops to their shoulders in carefully tended braided tassels.
Being a quiet, unassuming people, the Youlos are not your classical warrior nation and aren't often called upon to help in the defense of Minous, although they will fight for what they believe in when pushed.
During early history, the Youlos were goat herders who drove their Jombaram flocks across the Plains of Torlexos; an area which straddled the deems of the Narcal, Gadlos and Firas tribes. However, until the time was affirmed to be right by the Lords of Light, they avoided contact with all other tribes because they feared they may have turned out to be enemies from legend.
When the Youlos finally met the other tribes, during the times of Telcas, they quickly became an integral part of the union formed by him, for it was discovered they had inherent empathetic powers which gave them the ability to read the emotions of others, even if that mind was closed to normal telepaths. The Myth of Genesis explains their gift because during their defense of the Narlau, the Youlos suffered a terrible defeat at the hands of the enemy and many of their number suffered horrific eye wounds from falling arrows. A she warrior from the tribe went to the Lords of Light and begged them to help her people. They responded by taking the damaged eyes and moulded them into the gift of empathy.
Later, Youlos found themselves in high demand within diplomatic circles and joined missions when first contact with other alien civilisations were expected during the period of interstellar exploration, expansion and colonisation.
